P.E

I am a student at Slippery Rock University majoring in physical edcation and have just started field experience in 352- Secondary Teaching Methods. Today our class went to New Castle high school and participated with students from the grades 7th-12th. The unit they are all currently in is the Volleyball unit. Today we didn't teach but we got involved when the group of students challenged the Slippery Rock students! We took the challenge and they definitely gave us a run for our money! Both teams seemed to have had a good time and the students looked like they enjoyed the competition!

  1. Im taking this class next semester and from what everyone tells me it seems to be pretty hard. Im very nervous to start my upper level courses. You made me feel a little bit better about 352 with this post :) Thanks Hil! Im looking forward to next semester but I think I will still keep in mind that this class is not going to be one of the easiest!

  2. This class is making me nervous. I really wish it wasnt just half of a semester because i would like to take my time and actually have the information sink in, instead of busting everything out in a quick week. I hope we have a good time when we go out to observe and interact with students at other schools. The more and more i think about going out and working with children, the more i cant wait to have a job. I hope 352 gives us what we need to be a great teacher, and i really hope it doesnt make us stressed out. We all heard it will, but just thinkin in my head just 2 more semesters!

I am sick of sitting through classes and just hearing lectures. I am excited to get out and have field experience! Like Kayla said I am excited to get out and work with the kids!

  4. That game you played looked like alot of fun. Those New Castle students were definately good at volleyball. I'm glad we all had a chance to participate today. We have to teach a small sided game Tuesday. It should be fun for the New Castle High School and Slippery Rock P.E. students.

  5. I heard that class is a lot of work. I have not taken the class yet but aside from the work I heard it is an excellent class to take and it helps you a lot for the future. The game sounds like fun. I'm shocked they were able to be that competitive. They probably had player's from their actualy team. Anyways goodluck with that class.

  7. I'm actually anxious to take this class! But I still have a while ahead of me before I start taking those classes. Reading this post made me feel better about this class because I usually hear negative and stressful things about it, it's nice to read something positive for once! It always seems like people say there's a lot of work in this class and this class, but what class doesn't have a lot of work in it you know? I can't wait to start getting further and further into PE classes!

  8. I am taking 352 in the fall and am also nervous. When is everyone taking it? First half or second half? I'm taking it the first half. I know it is going to be a lot of work, but I'm excited to start the upper level courses and get out of here! I'm excited to be able to go out in the schools and work with the kids too.

  9. I scheduled for 352 today and I am super excited to finally get to wear the PE uniform for class and to work with students! I wanted to get into the first half of the semester for the class, but it was full and I guess I will just half to settle for the second half. I have heard mixed reviews about this class, but I feel I will have a great time taking it, because Dr. Donahue is the teacher and he is a great guy and an awesome instructor.

  10. Haha that sounds awesome! Some people think I'm weird because I'm actually excited to take 352. I heard it was a lot of work but I don't know, I guess I am just up for the challenge. I like to thoroughly learn about the profession and all aspects of it. That's funny that the high school kids gave you guys a run for your money, they were probably so excited to play with older kids.
