Electronic Portfolio

I have been working on my electronic portfolio now for a month or so and I have finally finished it! I am just about to put some final touches on it but I feel very accomplished! I never thought the day would come where it would be finished. It helped a lot that I had everything from 152 already in a portfolio. I used most of my work and information from that to put my electronic portfolio together. I have heard mixed things about electronic portfolio's. One comment that stuck in my head is that when you go into an interview for a physical education job, the administration would much rather see a hard copy portfolio. Has anyone heard anything different? It would be a waste to put all that time and effort into something that won't be put to good use.

  2. I have been wondering the same things about my electronic portfolio. I don't very many practical uses for it when you already have the hard copy in a binder. I know if I was an interviewer, I would be perfectly fine with just having the hard copy. It is a good point having an electronic backup, however, in case something happens to your binder. Maybe making a copy of everything in your binder would be a good idea.

  3. Hey good job on all most finishing up. I'm in the same boat I have some finishing touches that I need to get done than my remaining bit of the semester should flow pretty nicely. I haven't heard anything on that hard copy preference for a job interview, you would think that with technology as advanced as it is today that somebody would want to see an e-folio due to the relatively simplicity it should have when wanting to see documentation. I guess some people would like to keep it old school? Who knows maybe they're more worried about you rather than all the neat things that one could have surrounding there efolio, ya know?

Thanks for the comment on the LAX blog, I'll keep it updated for you.

  4. It is such a relief to have finally finished our e-folios! I know it was very time consuming and frustrating at times. I really hope we can use it in the future when we are trying to get jobs just because of the amount of time we put into them! I agree with Ryan though, like with all of the new technology out there I would think people would want to see something using the technology that we have. But hey, I guess some of the people that may be interviewing may still like to keep things old fashioned!

  6. Congrats on finishing it and turning it in today :) its like a weight was lifted off our shoulders for sure. That is the one comment that people have been telling me as well thats still stuck in my head. I feel like we are doing all this electronic work for no reason when we could just be making a hard copy that we can actually use in the future. I keep hearing that its a huge waste of time and the only time you will ever use it is for a grade at Slippery Rock University. It kind of makes me upset to hear that because we all put so much hard work into it. Literally, endless hours of working throughout the last 2 months of the semester to get this thing done. Oh well I am just gald we are over and done with it and now we can worry about all the other work that we have to turn in for the rest of our classes!

  7. I started mine early to make sure it was done and just turned it in today. Luckily I had no trouble with losing anything! It was a lot of work and I hope it pays off. At least it's done!

  8. I have mixed feelings about this. Yes, maybe some traditional people would prefer a hard copy, but times are changing. Technology is rapidly taking over school districts. Also, I have heard from people that Principle's didn't even bother looking through a hard copy portfolio because it took too much time. For me, I am very excited to have an electronic portfolio because I plan to apply to out of state schools and I will be able to send them my portfolio with no problem.

  9. I'm so happy thatthis assignment is over. I ended up procrastinating mine until the weekend before. I am happy with the results of my efolio. I think it's definately important to do it right for when we get closer to graduation. This assignment I feel was the most important because we will for sure use this and it will help us get a job.
